Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small neighborhood located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. They often believe it's an island located that lies west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine as well as West. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel became a young woman living in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She aspired to be a professional dancer but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. The moment I outgrew any male partner, I stopped. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher that pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to take part in an audition in a school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Her career spans 20 years and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast in the season 1 of the show and was not seen much.
